Study 4017 - Census Statistics: Employment, 1841 - 1931
While data on demographic variables appears in remarkably
similar form in successive censuses, occupational data varied
greatly both in terms of reporting units and in how occupations
were classified. Research by Clive Lee at Aberdeen sought
to create a consistent set of statistics at county level,
and the resulting data are held in 'lee_emp', but a similar
exercise for lower-level reporting units is impractical, hence
the range of tables listed here.
Tables described in this section:
'lee_emp': Clive Lee's standardised
County Statistics, 1841-1931
'emp1901m': Town-level Statistics
for 1901 Males
'emp1901f': Town-level Statistics
for 1901 Females
'emp1911m': Town-level Statistics
for 1911 Males
'emp1911f': Town-level Statistics
for 1911 Females
'emp1921': Male and Female Statistics
for 1921 Local Government Units
