Advice to data depositors

Data collections are accessioned for all periods, from ancient history through to 1945, and although the primary focus is on the UK, cross-national data collections are regularly accessioned. When a data collection is deposited with the History Data Service its is validated, an archival copy is made to ensure its long-term preservation, and a full catalogue record is created which is included in the UK Data Archive Data Catalogue. The History Data Service also manages the distribution of the data collection to users in the research and teaching community, and regulates access in accordance with the terms and conditions chosen by the depositor.

For further information about depositing data with the History Data Service is given in Frequently Asked Questions about depositing.
